Lych Gate, The Abbey Church of St Mary, Manor Court Road, Nuneaton
2004

The Lych Gate of Manor Court Road provides the setting for entering into the grounds of The Abbey Ruins, which was the origin of the name Nuneaton, 'Nuns of Eaton'.

The Lych Gate of traditional oak frame with cedar singles had deteriorated to the point where major restoration was required.

Carefully each rotten timber was replaced with oak, new gates replicating the originals were provided, and the shingle roof restored. An example of quality craftsmanship.
