| Coventry Christian Fellowship Hope Centre , Hillfields, Coventry Building Project Total circa £645k, 2004 |
A challenging architectural project, which involved the reinvention of a dilapidated industrial unit into a visionary Church Centre for another area of Hillfields, Coventry. The solution involved consolidating and extending the former derelict printing works into a new Christian Community Centre, which now provides a large contemporary Worship Zone; a dedicated and safe Nursery Zone; a modern Learning Zone, and an attractive Hospitality Zone. This project involved a coordinating a complex network of agencies, to bring together a coordinated and funded building agenda, which now delivers a vital community programme within the east area of Hillfields. |

St Peter's Church, Hillfields, Coventry |
A new Church Centre was commissioned by the DCC, following a decision to make the old dilapidated Church redundant. The new Church was built within the grounds, and included a Worship area capable of seating 120, together with a rationalised entrance foyer which created a safe access to the adjoining Social Centre, which accommodates a wide range of rooms and spaces for Community use. The facilities are now used widely by the multi-cultural community in the west area of Hillfields, and the Centre is now delivering a wide range of society and faith based programmes. Striking features of the new Church Centre include a glass spire, which can be seen from across the City, and a special feature decorative glass window, individually designed for the Centre to include characteristics of the local neighbourhood. The new St Peter's Church Centre represents a community - based renaissance for the local residents within Hillfields. Click here to view the St Peter's Church website. |
