Project Profile | St Andrew's House, Earlsdon, Coventry

  The Redevelopment Appeal
[Updated 22nd January 2007]

St Andrew’s House provides residential care for all in a Christian environment.

In 2002 new care standards were introduced and these have significant implications for the Home.

Consequently, it is now necessary for the Home to raise in excess of £2 million to provide additional facilities including larger bedrooms with en-suite. Unless the Home is updated, it may be forced to close and bring to an end over fifty years history of care work.

To date the Practice have obtained Planning Permission on the Home's behalf, for an extension with 32 bedrooms. It is anticipated that work will commence on site during 2009/10.

Thanks to tremendous support from the sponsoring Churches, donors and Friends, the Fundraising Committee have already raised over £300,000.

Project Summary
[Updated 22nd January 2007]

The project involves a development of a new bedroom wing with 30 en-suite rooms, coupled with the demolition of the existing bedroom accommodation, together with the development of six 'supported' apartments.

The philosophy of the design will be to take advantage of the natural falls of the site such that there will be a lower ground floor level to Bechwood Avenue level; upper ground floor level will be contiguous with the existing ground floor accommodation and equally the first floor will be contiguous with the existing first floor.

Coventry and District Free Church Home for the Elderly are continuing to offer care and comfort to its family of residents, having first established the home in 1956.

The new development planned will ensures the very best facilities possible meeting the CSCI standards.
